IN MEMORIAM: CAROL DIGEL, CURATOR OF THE DARLEY SOCIETY
Though sadly, Carol Digel passed away in 2005, without her tireless efforts in research into the Poe-Darley connection, many of the familial ties between Darley and Thomas Sully would have been very difficult to ascertain. Digel spent a great deal of time at Delaware, New York and Philadelphia repositories, cataloguing Darley's works and trying to further substantiate the link between Felix Darley and Edgar and Virginia Poe. Carol Digel, along with Ray and Judith Hester, creators of The Darley Society, has been instrumental in the evolution of our work.
